I was rather pleased about the Singapore Open because I thought it was a great way to force my body clock back into sync. Woke up at 7am, spent the whole day communing with the sun, yesterday. Got awfully tired by about 10pm when Dad drove me back to hall, and I thought hey great, I can whip my body clock back into shape by sleeping early tonight.
So I went to bed at about 2am, which is yonks early by my own standards. Thought that I would probably wake up at the indecent hour of 9am, possibly 10, and be able to spend the day actually seeing the sun again.
I wake up after a very relaxing, restful sleep. I look at the clock. 6.43, it says. What? I’ve waken up so early? Six in the MORNING??
I look at the clock again.
6.43pm, it says.
…
My body just rebels at the thought of waking up during the day. There goes all my body clock efforts.

Hrmm. At peace with self.
Floating away on a sea of lovely dessert peach icewine.
*kisses fingers*
Lovely.
Day one of Singapore Open is over. Tournament directing is fun and fuss-free; dreading the morning and facing Division C. Bleh. Played a single friendly game with Ball today and beat him. Ha! I beat the Div B current number two! I just needed a bit of an ego boost. Nice high scoring plays too, SLEIGHs, ATTUNING, and ZINEBS.
I need to get some sleep. Almost fell asleep on my laptop this evening. Could have ended up shorting out laptop with possible drool.

@#$@#RANTS
The worst part is when you feel like a fool for loving someone.
Anyhoo, I left my cable in hall thinking that I’d be able to use the spare cable that’s at home; only to come home and find that Joel’s brought it to hall and he didn’t bring it home either.
And I have to direct the tournament tomorrow, using my @#$% laptop.
So I had to trouble Bin to bring it down for me; going to meet her at Outram MRT tomorrow. *cries*
There goes my sleep-in before the tourney.
I’m in a terrifically bad mood right now. Bad night.

I thought I’d been successful in blocking her out. Apparently not.
It still hurts, almost two years later. I was right, I should just not think about it. Shouldn’t think about what she said, and how she stabbed me in the back right between the shoulder blades; how I never expected it to happen to me.
Shoulda known better, too.
So, yes. Forgiven, I suppose, but definitely not forgotten.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget that.

I found this little snippet on bash.org.
[frenetic] guys how much would 200 mhz usually cost at a store
[frenetic] I am trying to upgrade my 800mhz to 1ghz
So that’s the bugger who always takes my login name for everything. But that’s okay, because jadeite is prettier, so there.

Hurhur :D
An elderly man lay dying in his bed. In the clasp of death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookies wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort inched himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands.
With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death’s agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out upon grease paper on the kitchen table, were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies.
Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? Mustering one great final effort, he moved himself toward the table. His parched lips parted, he inhaled the fresh-baked smell; the wondrous taste of the cookie was almost already in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life.
The aged and withered hand shakily made its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when it was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife.
“Stay out of those,” she said, “they’re for the funeral.”

Prose
I slept for 14 hours today, after not sleeping for 34 hours.
I slept at 5am, and woke up at 7.30pm. I have not seen the sun for 24 hours.
That aside, I’ve finally completed all my projects! Woo! I can now get down to studying for exams (pause for people to point incredulously at me and say, “What? Beth? Studying?) without being worried about schoolwork.
And I think I did a pretty good job on most of my projects. The biggest thing was completing the CS331 Advertising and Copywriting portfolio, where I learned that I can create incredibly lame radio ads. I continued in this trend for my CS333 radio ad. I’ll reproduce it here for your entertainment:
- START RADIO COMMERCIAL
SFX: Noises of the shower being turned on.
MAN: (Clears throat and sings; singing is very out of tune) Splish splash I was taking a bath, long ago a Saturday night! A rub-a-dub, just relaxing in my tub, thinking everything was all right…
SFX: Hammering at the door, people start yelling at him.
NEIGHBOR 1: (shouts) Eh, stop singing! So noisy!
NEIGHBOR 2: You think you are a rock star is it?
NEIGHBOR 3: This is not karaoke you know!
ANNCR: There are better places to sing than in the shower. Quit being a bathroom star. Visit K Box today!
MAN: Just one more song?
NEIGHBORS: (Shout) NO!
- END RADIO COMMERCIAL
So I think I might not have a future in the radio-ad-writing industry. There goes that career path. :D
The semester is almost over already. What a shock, as always; the term always passes by so quickly. I start school, it takes me three or four weeks to get into school mode. Before I know it, term break arrives, announcing that half the sem is over. Crunch time for projects and portfolios arrive. Exams start. The semester finishes, leaving me slightly dazed and disoriented – “Where did all that time go?”
Answer: Frying sausages and onions at 4am in the morning, watching Desperate Housewives Season 2, and endlessly surfing the Net.
Well, Singapore Open is this weekend and I’m the tournament director for both B and C divisions. I miss Scrabble, but I’ve been awful about playing in rated tournaments; the last one I played was in January. The last tourney I played was a JGCC mini where I totally kicked ass (I remember knocking Andy, Yen Nee and Quek down in a series of exhilarating games, bingo-ing with lovely words like DACOITY), but because it was unrated, did nothing for my ranking. Bah. And because I’d anticipated that this period would be crunch time for my projects (not expecting to complete them so soon) I’d terminated my application to play in the Open, choosing to take the less-taxing job of directing the tourney rather than let my rankings slide. Sigh.
Exams end November 14, and I’ll be taking off for Israel on the 21st. Less than a month away; I can’t wait. Cannot cannot cannot wait! Two weeks in Israel and Jordan, then back to Singapore; one weekend in JB playing Causeway Cup, back to SG, wonderful wonderful Christmas at Kow’s house, and then a week in Cameron Highlands with my beloved family and baby, New Year’s at Kow’s, then working at SAM. I cannot wait.
I’m already embracing the holiday spirit.
Did I mention I just can’t wait?
