Busy as a B–

Posted in @#$@#RANTS at 6:05 pm by jadeite

Press conference just over, now getting ready for the gallery opening ceremony cum buffet dinner; after which I will be rushing off for church choir appreciation dinner.  Busy busy day.

I’m currently mopey about how my supe and my boss #2 are so small, fine-boned, delicate and pretty (with the requisite sweet voices) and how I feel like a large, bumbling, ugly oafish ape when I walk next to them :/

They aren’t even bimbos, far from it.  They’re lovely and yet assertive, so none of your blonde bimbo crap because they’re go-getters, smart and well-spoken, independent, wow!  Exactly the kind of woman I wish I could be like.

Unfortch I’ve already failed in the body area (nope, not small and sweet and delicate, pah).

Boo.

*takes out the self-esteem pump and turns the setting to ‘high’*

Take me over

bite me, devour me deeply
with your sharp white teeth

I want to drench you, inside and out
I want to pour myself into you

until nothing’s left of me
and nothing’s left but you

I am so madly excited about the exhibition that’s coming to SAM in April!

Fiction@Love: Ultra New Vision of Contemporary Art in the Age of Animamics (Animation+Comics) is an exhibit on human experience in the 21st century. By combining reality and virtual reality, the exhibit uses the imagination’s colours to enrich role-playing in people’s lives. The popularity of animamic art has provided youngsters of the new digital age with the possibility of self-reflection upon their role-playing. In this digital age, visual images continuously give birth to new images and cause the rapid catalysis of each generation. They have not only become the password for youth to pursue popular and new culture, but also have evolved into symbols of fashion products, blending into the commercial language of pop culture.

There’ll be art by Yamaguchi Ai (the genius behind the artwork for Shu by Ai, the Shu Uemura facial product line):

…art by Yoshitomo Nara:

…art by Taiwanese author Jimmy or ??, (who wrote the little book Turn Left, Turn Right, which was made into a movie starring Aniki Jin aka Takeshi Kaneshiro *swoon*), whose little picture books I absolutely adore (Ah Fu gave me one last year YEY)

…art by Aoshima Chiho (gorgeous 2-D movement digital art):

…and lots of other artists like Claire Lim, Moon Kyungmoo, Akiyoshi Megumi, Kusama Yayoi, Pan Chen-Ju etc.

I am just dying of excitement.  I’m so glad I’m here for this exhibition!!  Bet Joel and Bing are going to come see it :D  Aaaah I want to share this exhibition with everyone please come please come.  More details nearer the date!!

I think I might pass out from happiness if Jimmy and the other artists do make it down to Singapore for the exhibition.  Autographs.  Merchandise.  *dies*

Just wanted to whet your appetite (and my own) :D

Pool!

Posted in Musings at 11:47 pm by jadeite

So many big games coming up for Pool, it’s a bit frightening.  We managed to clear Arsenal with a 1-0 game (thank God for Luis Garcia’s timely recovery), but we’ve got Man Utd on Saturday.  Hope everyone’s fit for that game.

Games coming up include Benfica for Champion’s League, and for premiership we’ve got Man City, Charlton, Arsenal and Everton.  What I wouldn’t give to see Liverpool finish second in the tables this time.  Must kick Man Utd down!  Gyarrh.

Man, I miss watching football.  It’s just not the same, following soccernet and ST reports :(

I haven’t yet managed to watch Fowler in action…

Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

Congratulations! If your mission in life
is not already to preserve the English
tongue, it should be. You can smell a
grammatical inaccuracy from fifty yards.
Your speech is revered by the underlings,
though some may blaspheme and call you a
snob. They’re just jealous. Go out there
and change the world.

How grammatically correct are you? (Revised with answer key)
brought to you by Quizilla

==========

You are an English Genius
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 93% Expert!
I’m most peeved that I didn’t score 100% on Expert.  I wonder what I could have gotten wrong.  Grrr.

Blessings

Found the most beautiful benediction at the end of 1 Thessalonians last night during Bible study.

23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.

- 1Thessalonians 5:23 - 24

May you be truly blessed by these words! I also liked how Dad mentioned that in church, when the pastor says the benediction, he’s sending us on our way with God’s blessing - and not only from the pastor!  Because when we sing the doxology, we’re effectively blessing everyone else in church as well as receiving the parting blessing from everyone in church.

So the next time you sing the doxology, remember how loved you are, that an entire church is interceding with God on your behalf :)

Driving

Posted in Love at 11:11 pm by jadeite

It’s nice to just sit in the car with you, driving home from church. We always get that time alone together, and I like how we talk about things like doctrine and cars - we’re always discussing cars - and other things that dads and daughters don’t usually talk about.

But you know, the nicest part was when we rolled out of the car wash, and the Carpenters’ ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’ (ha) started playing on the radio; and we both started whistling the tune at exactly the same time. Then we both started singing at the same time. And I smiled to myself; I’m not sure you noticed.

Daddy and meI’d always felt that the Carpenters was something we shared, you and me, because one of my favorite childhood memories is of you singing ‘Close To You’ to me. You’d change the lyrics to suit me: “That is why all the boys in town follow you all around…just like me, they long to be close to you…”

And I remember you saying, with just a touch of wistful regret, how one day I’d be swept off my feet by some young man, and I wouldn’t be just yours anymore. I used to laugh at you - silly daddy - and think you adorably sweet.

I’m still all yours for a few more years at least :D I love you, Dada. You’re my valentine.

‘I Can Only Imagine’ by Mercy Me

Posted in Praise and worship, Sing a song [of sixpence] at 4:57 pm by jadeite

Sometimes when I’m tired and weary all I want to do is go to God and rest in Him and wish that I could go to my eternal rest already, because it seems like this world has nothing worthwhile to offer. How much I yearn to be with Him in heaven! But I know my work is not completed yet and my story isn’t finished…so until then, I can only imagine, and do my best to bring Him glory while I’m still alive on earth.

Lord how I long for You.

I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus?
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I was tearing, walking from office to the train and almost all the way back on the MRT. I really long to be near to God…to hear His voice and to give myself to Him. To be able to forever worship Him, to be able to finally look upon His face and know Him…

I wonder what that will be like.
