HL Ad

There are two major things wrong with this ad.

1. I believe it’s ‘One is good. Two are better.’ Unless they’re referring to the words themselves, then it should be ”One’ is good. ‘Two’ is better.’ Which they’re not, because the text below states, ‘Two glasses of milk help MEET your daily calcium need’.

Then again I could be wrong; my grammar isn’t that up to scratch.

2. Those two glasses of milk in that position are just wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

I don’t believe I need to be reminded where mother’s milk comes from.

It’s such a lovely eye for detail that ensured the girl’s tank top and her fingernails were both white to match the white milk in the two glasses that were delicately placed right under her burgeoning bosom.

and she has been sufficiently air-brushed, so it doesn’t look like she is straining to smile..or grimacing.

speaking of grimacing .. you know that purple mcdonald’s blob called grimace? at the kiddy parties we went to (as kids lah, not now) there was that follow-the-leader game, and the host always pronounced his name “grammis”

    Well two things:
    - it’s not wrong, they do it on purpose, many of the ads actually use sexual suggestions
    - it’s not wrong, the “two is better” is correct, it’s a short form of “having two is better”. So it is the “having” that *is*, not the “two” that are as you say.
Nice of you to notice the ad though!

Yeah, I figured that both would probably be correct, but it just grates on me because it (’having’) is not explicitly stated and I prefer grammar that isn’t iffy and prompts this sort of discussion :P

I know many ads use sexual suggestion - sex sells after all - just that…yargh, does it have to be this blatant?

    I’m a fan of subtlety :)

Did you come up with the ad then!?
