My teacher-supe for English has delivered both her Sec 1 classes into my hands so I’ve pretty much been handling them by myself for the past two weeks. It’s a bunch of fun because they’re a bunch of rather decent kids, with only one or two rowdy ones (I had to take one boy aside and sternly warn him to never again use that sort of language in my class after I overheard him gleefully using the term ‘blowjob’; I don’t know what context it was in and I don’t want to know).
The downside is that I now have 80 mind-boggling compositions to mark over the weekend. Joy! Wait til I post up some excerpts. Some of them are terribly adorable - you can tell they watch too much TV.
Also taught debate to my Lit class today. Am not very qualified to teach it because I suck at it, but I suppose at least I’ve done it before and I’m familiar with what it should be like. Sometimes I feel a bit like a football manager - I might not be able to play a decent game of footie myself, but I know what the theory is and how to manage the team and so I’m paid to teach them what I can’t exactly do myself. Hur.
They’re not quite there yet with the debate, but they’ll get there soon enough :) I hope, of course. Hehehe.
And I got praised by both my teacher-supes so at least I feel like I’m doing a decent job. Definitely could do better, so I’ll just keep improving…practice makes perfect eh :)
Man…I love teaching.
