I have been wearing spectacles since I was five years old and in kindergarten.

Eighteen years of wearing glasses, and now I’m free.

I think I might possibly be in love with my Lasik surgeon.

Anyone who wants to do Lasik let me know…I recommend you :) He’s really very very good, everyone in his clinic has fantastic bedside manner and very sweet and happy and simply wonderful at putting you at ease…I think he’s the first eye surgeon to ever get certified for Lasik in Singapore or something and he’s always sought after for quotes when the papers run Lasik/presbyopia stories. It’s such a kick to wake up in the morning and be able to really see.

Thank God for whoever invented lasers :P

Such a wonderfully gross procedure - I could actually see Julian lifting up the clear corneal flap of my eye with this little spatula tool (at that moment all I could think about was how it looked like an ice cream spoon, the kind that they give with gelato) and then the acrid smell of burning when the laser was working in my eye.

“Don’t think about the burning smell, okay?” Julian told me as he gently held my head straight.

How not to think?

In my head I was just going: aaah! My eye! My eye is burning! You is burning my eye!

But no pain at all, except for the weirdest sensation when they were cutting into my left eyeball - for some strange reason that no one can explain, the left eye can feel things that the right eye is impervious to. Weird huh? So next time if you want to hurt someone real bad, make sure you punch them in the left eye rather than the right. It’ll hurt more.

I can’t believe that I went from 900deg vision to near perfect (vision still a bit fuzzy the day after surgery; it’s supposed to resolve by tomorrow morning!) in just ten minutes.

Most worthwhile $3000 I ever spent (okay, I’ve never actually spent $3000 before).
