From alternate caps and adding Z’s on the back of all kinds of words (i WaNtZ tO sLeEp LeHz~ sO tIrEd WoRxxx!) in my time, new kinds of horrifying alternate spellings have popped up. Chatting to my ex-students online makes my brain pop and fry and sizzle like hot fat in a frying pan.
I give you a great example:
” ICE & SNOW ” says:
cher
euu gort friendster ?
i b_______ from 1e1 .
rmb miie ?
-jadeite ['cher]- says:
hi :)
yes
” ICE & SNOW ” says:
oo glad .
wad euur friendster add arhs .
last time euu gib us i forgot liiaos

If by “evolved” you really mean “devolved“, then I agree. I used to be appalled at the standard of English used by American kids on the internet, but it’s quite obvious that Singaporean kids are far, far worse. This is one of the reasons I make it a point to almost always type in proper sentences with proper punctuation, whether on IM or in an SMS.
