I want I want

Food.

I want crispy Curry-O curry puffs with whole chunks of egg inside, from Old Chang Kee. I want to tear off the crispy curly bits and ends and flaky pastry and let it crunch in my mouth.

I want pork chop cheese-baked spaghetti from Xin Wang Hongkong Café, cold yuen yang in a tin cup, French toast dripping with syrup and butter; eaten with none other than my favorite Xin Wang makan kaki :P

I want char kway teow from the East Coast hawker center, laden with blood cockles and lup cheong and crispy crackly lard, wet and so full of sweet gravy that you need a spoon to eat it properly.

I want chwee kueh from Tiong Bahru market. I want heaps and heaps of salty hot chai po topping the silky soft white rounds of whatever chwee kueh is made of. Carrot cake with more chai po.

I want I want deep-fried chicken from the ah lian economic beehoon stall at 179 kopitiam. In a pinch I’ll settle for KFC crispy chicken, only thigh or drumstick meat please (because who likes white/breast meat?) and hot whipped potato and cheese fries.

I want nasi lemak from Serangoon. Fluffy coconut rice, fried chicken, sunshine egg, ikan bilis and roasted peanuts and that crispy sweet belacan that melts in your mouth.

Oh and I want Ben and Jerry’s Oatmeal Cookie Crunch ice cream. I want a whole bucket of it. Sweet cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal cookie chunks in it. Drool.

I want crispy plaster prata from that crispy prata place in Sin Ming. Cold tehcinno from Fong Seng. Banana prata with lashings of honey and homemade ice lemon tea from Ah Fang.

I want my favorite, absolute favorite, Ruffles BBQ potato chips. Tao Kae Noi seaweed, any flavor, any flavor at all (well except original). I want salt and vinegar Marks and Spencers chips. White chocolate-covered raisins from M&S. Ritter Sport corn crisp chocolate.

And I want to eat all that stuff and not grow fat.

Edit 22:44h: So I went out to the ultra-mini-mart (the tiny one right behind Can 14) to indulge my chips cravings, at least; to my despair they don’t stock Ruffles BBQ chips :( not even cheddar cheese! Not any big bags of Ruffles chips in sight! And I hate eating original flavored chips. So I ended up buying BBQ flavored Mamee (*pokes Pea*) and Senbei Wanwan rice crackers, and cup-a-soup.

And then just to round off my day I bought myself dinner - French fries from Can 14’s Western stall, something which I’d been wanting to eat ever since someone put the idea in my head on Saturday evening. I absolutely love shoestring fries slathered in chilli and ketchup. Bliss.
