PSLE

Sun, 25 November 2007, 1:42 am by jadeite

My tuition kid got 269 for PSLE, A* for English, and is the second highest scorer in her primary school!

*BEAMS*

Oh, and the highest recorded score this year is…294. WTH! Kid must have gotten full marks for her Math and Science and lost marks only in language oral and composition. Gasp. Kids these days are insane.

  1. Hi! Saw your blog when I was doing Yahoo search on English PLSE. Congrats!!! It seems that your child has done outstandingly superb for the PSLE too. It is true that one could easily scored 100% for Math and Science. But quite impossible to achieve it for language related subjects especially for compo and oral.

As for Natasha ( the 294 kid!), her language teachers did mentioned that her class’ composition essays are creatively written with the use of idioms, etc…. Her mom also stated that she also sent Natasha for confidence and writing workshops to enhance her writing and overall well-being. Other than that, she is a naturally diligent and disciplined student doing up to 4-5 hours regularly on self-revision.

Fyi, my elder sis is one of the year 2007 PSLE Malay papers’ markers and almost give a 99.99% for a composition she was so impressed at due to the usage of flowery sentences, idioms etc….

So, no matter how good a student is in his or her compre, grammar, cloze passages,ORAL and COMPO are equally important as well to correspond with that whole subject overall marks.

By the way, where did you send your child for his/her tuition lessons? You seem to have brililiantly chosen a great one!!

    Regards
    Liza

  2. Hi Liza!

About the child - she’s not my child, she’s my tuition student, so you can imagine how pleased you have just made me :)

I tutor English and Literature at both primary and secondary school level and am an NIE trained teacher. Well - in the midst of my training anyway :)

My friend is actually Natasha’s Scrabble Club teacher at St. Hilda’s! Thanks for the bit of background info. It’s just so incredible that any one kid could do so well and be such an all-rounder.

    thanks for dropping by…

  6. Hi Caroline, sorry but I don’t give tuition anymore as I’m currently teaching. The workload is just too heavy to take on extra tuition :)
