Oh yes Girl Scout thin mints! I wants to make these!
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup milk (I used skim)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 tsp peppermint extract
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, cocoa powder and salt.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. With the mixer on low speed, add in the milk and the extracts. Mixture will look curdled. Gradually, add in the flour mixture until fully incorporated.
Shape dough into two logs, about 1 1/2 inches (or about 4 cm) in diameter, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 1-2 hours, until dough is very firm.
Preheat oven to 375F before slicing your cookies.
Slice dough into rounds not more than 1/4 inch thick and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Cookies will not spread very much.
Bake at 375F for 13-15 minutes. Cookies should be crisp when they cool.
Drizzle with melted chocolate, if desired.
Makes 3 1/2-4 dozen thin cookies.

I flipping HATE George Gillett and Tom Hicks. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them. Get out of Anfield and stop destroying the Liverpool dream. Stop affecting the players’ performance. Friggin’ Americans and their boorish, invasive, rough-house treatment of Liverpool Football Club.

I want my boys back, and I want them to be scoring goals, and I want them to NOT BE AMERICAN OWNED.
Yanks out! OUT!

“Once bitten, twice shy,” she offers; penitent, yet desperate for him to understand. “Third time unlucky. Fourth time…paranoid.”
He shakes his head, unyielding. “Baggage,” he retorts. Icy eyes. Back stiff. She’d never seen him look this way. “Don’t you trust me?”
Tucking her head into the curve of his neck, she takes a deep breath. Warmth, soap, comfort. His arm comes up around her. He begins to soften as she leans into him.
“I do,” she says honestly. “I do.”

Scenes from the Bible have been imagined by countless artists over the centuries, but never quite like this. God’s Eye View portrays four key Biblical events as if captured by Google Earth.
It’s the work of Sydney-based “creative collective” The Glue Society. The project was commissioned by Eric Romano of Pulse Art, New York for its Miami art fair.
In Biblical chronological order:

The Garden of Eden

Noah’s Ark

The Israelites crossing the Red Sea

And finally, the crucifixion

Good anti-smoking op-ed in today’s papers – except it’s hidden all the way in the Saturday section, page 16. It’s written by John McBeth and talks about how he lost his leg because of smoking, which caused Buerger’s disease (acute inflammation and thrombosis of arteries and veins).
The only problem is, why is it buried in such an obscure section of the paper? Granted, it’s an op-ed, not a news article. But…I wish it were more front and center. The only reason I saw it was because I was looking for the sports section.
Even I didn’t know you could have limbs amputated because of smoking-related diseases. They should put that into textbooks.

The next time some clueless angmoh asks you which part of Japan/China Singapore is in, politely inform him that Singapore is an independent country that’s nowhere near Japan OR China, and has never been.
Then ask him where he’s from.
“I’m American!” he will likely proclaim proudly.
Furrow your brow. Hem and haw and look puzzled. Scratch your chin, cock your head and pretend to be deep in perplexed thought. Then ask,
“America? Which part of the United Kingdom is that?”
The converse will also work.

The video is not important – the vocals are.
Don’t you think that voice just sounds so deliciously 60’s jazz singer? I lovelove the sound. And guess who’s the singer? GUESS!
Answer is after the jump! (more…)

We are not at home to Mister Grumpy.
(Kitty’s not a grumpy lady!)
Fell asleep on the bus, and fifteen minutes later when I awoke we were still at the same place. Eventually gave up and got off the bus in the middle of the road (people were exiting buses both in front and behind us as well) and found out that it was the Thaipusam celebrations that were blocking up the whole damn road. Garrararggh. There were too many people milling about and many furious motorists leaning on their horns (as if the road would miraculously clear). Annoying. We took the train instead.
I wonder how long the poor bus uncle took to get the bus through Orchard Road.
