Heralding the New Year

Posted in Musings at 9:20 pm by jadeite

Where were you when the clock struck twelve on December 31st?

I was at Puppy’s house watching 300 all over again :) and then we celebrated the new year with a prayer and a kiss and with the joint hope that the next year will be even better than the last.

What I wanted to do last year:

  • Go for King’s Cup (though maybe not to play)
  • Go to Phuket
  • Graduate with a second-class honors
  • Find a good job that I enjoy
  • Become a Scrabble master
  • Walk closer with God
  • Eat sashimi buffet
  • Save an insane amount of money
  • Redecorate my room

What I did last year:

  • Went to four different countries (China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand)
  • Played my last inter-hall Scrabble game
  • Met the most amazing man and fell in love
  • Graduated with second lower honors (well, at least it’s still second class)
  • Taught in a secondary school for the first time
  • Dropped my weight below 50kg for the first time since secondary school
  • Formed a new mahjong kaki group (hoho)
  • Spent an insane amount of money

What I want to do next year:

  • Stop spending insane amounts of money (thus saith the woman who, in the first two days of the year, has bought a new MacBook, a new handphone, and sponsored part of a PlayStation 3 for Puppy’s birthday present *sniffle* on the other hand, 2008 looks like a year where Beth is going to be very entertained)
  • Go to Bali or Phuket or Bintan or Redang
  • Continue growing closer to God
  • Finish playing Lego Star Wars and FF13 on the PS3
  • Become very good at my job
  • Be very happy at my job
  • Grow a very good relationship with Puppy and celebrate our first year anniversary
  • Start planning for my future
  • Save an insane amount of money (starting tomorrow)
