Forty pairs of eyes are trained on the Macbook tucked securely into my arm as I lovingly and carefully place it on the desk.
Hushed whispers.
“‘Cher, is that…is that a MAC?”
“Why yes it is,” I reply smugly.
The entire class looks at my Macbook hungrily, as a tiger would if a pack of blissfully ignorant plump deer paraded cheerfully past its den. A few brave ones venture to the table and awestruck, presume to run their fingers lightly over the cover. A swift intake of breath, a besotted sigh. They inquire in wonder about my Macbook skin. The knowledgeable ones quiz me about my laptop’s specs, nodding knowingly when I answer. They ask how much I paid. Groans of envy fill the room. Dark mutterings - I wish I had one; I want one. A Macbook. Can you imagine.
And there I had it.
Instant respect.

i really should have gotten a mac when i replaced my laptop. but i’m also kinda happy with my sony :D
