Friends who give friends lifts to school

Posted in Prose at 4:21 pm by jadeite

This morning, Amelia gave me a lift to school - she was a little late, so I was at the bus stop waiting for her and promised, in the interim, to compose her a poem in gratitude for the lift. After about ten minutes at the bus stop I came up with this poem, which I then declaimed to her in the car amid much hilarity.

A Poem On The Generosities Of Friends Who Give Friends Lifts To School

The traffic’s quite heavy, the people asleep
But not for me is the EZ link beep!
Amelia’s giving me a lift today
and I’m thankful - more than I can say.
For NTU’s located in a faraway place
(the end of the world - to cut to the chase).
She’s saved me an hour of precious sleep
So I won’t have to endure the EZ link beep.
So thank God for a loving friend with a car
who drives to a uni that’s so damn far!
