Love
Unedited, from one of my students’ compositions:
“When I grow up, I want to find a person whom I am sure will be able to spend the rest of my time with her. That is one of a need when someone grows up, to be joint with another person of the other gender in Holy Matrimony, in other words to get married. I personally do not wish to be single for all of my life, I want to be able to have someone there to support me every step of the way, to pick me up when I fall and to love me as I love her. I know my parents and siblings can do that for me, but they cannot always be there for me, they will also have their own goals to pursue. So I hope that this person will be special in my life and always be there for me.”
Sometimes my rough, tough, rumble-tumble boys have a softer, meltier center to them than I realize.
Sentimental! :)

Memememe!
since my last meme.
1. There’s something you’ve always dreamed of doing, but you haven’t done it because you think you lack the time, money, or support to do so. What is that something? And what are the REAL roadblocks keeping you from it?
Backpacking in Southeast Asia and Europe. It costs too much time and money – if I were going to save up money to go on a trip I’d end up going to Anfield and watching a live match.
2. Name something you would eat more of if health, cost, allergy, and caloric intake were of no concern
Genuine tiramisu. And foie gras.
3. What is the one singer/band, book/author, painting/painter or author artist/work of art that “speaks to you” most? Why?
I used to love Renoir. I loved his romantic, Impressionist style with its saturated colors and depictions of round, cherubic women and children. In terms of books, I love Jodi Picoult, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Freya North is my guilty pleasure; Tamora Pierce is that step away from childhood fantasy that I can’t bear to take. Music? I’m solidly and proudly mainstream, both Chinese and English. I don’t do house, or acid jazz, or trance, or particularly favor indie bands.
4. If your country’s government handed you a check for $10 billion and empowered you to use that money to support a single program, cause, or organization, where would you send it?
Can I…can I keep just some of it? :( We need to buy and furnish a house :(
Okay, I’d give it to Shyam and send her to Africa to build Christian halfway houses for women and children.
5. What really, genuinely pisses you off?
Discourtesy and insincerity. Yes, I have someone in mind. No, I don’t like her at all.
6. Describe your current level of happiness and contentment in your life. Are you living the life you imagined for yourself when you were younger?
I’m satisfied. It could be better, of course – I could be prettier, healthier, richer. But I’m doing all right, and I’m not quite living the life I imagined just yet, but I will be in about a year’s time :)
I tag…whoever feels like doing this. But if you do it, leave a comment so I can read yours!

Love,
Picture-Perfect
Saturday was a busy busy day.
In the afternoon we drove over to the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul:

Where baby Josiah Williams was baptized.

Like all the others in his clan, Josiah’s blessed with thick black hair and huge, limpid eyes.

And just like his big sister Bernadette and big brothers Jeremiah and Benjamin, little baby Josiah’s got a tight grip on my heart :)

Oh, you’re in my blood – like holy wine
tastes so bitter
bitter and so sweet
Well I could drink a case of you, darlin’
and I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet.

Love
There’s a place in your shoulder that matches the curve of my cheek exactly. Your arm finds its place around the slope of my shoulders. I nestle my nose in the hollow of your throat, and the fit is perfect. I could sleep an age in your arms and never wake.
You are the weft, I am the warp, running from selvedge to selvedge, a twist of cloth knit so tightly you cannot tell between each thread.
The night would not exist without dawn and dusk. The day is nothing without sunrise and sunset.
What would I be without you?

Pensive. Thinking –
how much I enjoyed watching F1
Another sport to follow.
But
Tired. Back and neck ache
Surrounded by marking, and marking
320 scripts. Compre AND compo. and Lit.
Happy that school is winding down.
Miss Shyam.
This weekend
I want to take a bike ride with my baby
ride along the beach
talk about nothing in particular
enjoy the breeze
sit on the sand
watch the waves
can we?
please?
tired. must mark.

Musings
I woke up at eight
It was too freaking early
Fell asleep again
Puppy picked me up
Five in the chillmobile
It’s not too squeezy
It was a sweet church.
Josiah has such huge eyes
Beautiful baby
Waited for a chance
It only came after lunch
Cuddled baby tight
Finally we left
He dropped me off at Far East
Then left for F1
Would you believe it
So tired, I fell asleep in
the Borders toilet.
Slept for twenty mins.
Then bought a book on impulse
Went to meet the guys.
Met Fu and Medha
Had Pasta De Waraku
Good conversation
Took a lot of shots
You’ll see them when I manage
to upload them all
I got home in time
to watch the Liverpool game
Yay, we won 2-0!
Then onto F1.
Man, the cars’ sounds are sexy.
The race is thrilling.
Now I’m exhausted
Waiting for him to reach home
Yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn.
