“Family is over, talking politicks.”
“Everyone is talking politics these days…”
But no fear, I am a member of Singapore’s Apathetic Youth.
I will squelch my patriotick and politickal fervor, because otherwise MM*Lee will scold me on national TV and people will write letters to forums saying, “Tsk, kids nowadays, no respect for their elders.”
I will keep silent, then no one can shut me up.
I will do nothing, then no one can sue me.
I will not push the politickal envelope, because I might get paper cuts.
I will vote for - oh, sorry, non-issue, my G*RC has a walkover.
I will not blog, podcast or publish anything that persistently promotes a certain politickal view, or politickal party, because there is no one party in Singapore that I promote anyway.
They do a pretty good job on their own.
Also, I don’t want to go to prison, because (repeat after me) Prison Got No Broadband.
Don’t forget, hor.

I’m all for a good competition. Competition sharpens ambition, it raises the bar and the standard of the playing field, and makes things a little more fun, really. Even if one team isn’t quite as good as the other, there’s still a lot to look forward to. Underdogs can topple a champion, or champions may prevail. Results are never straight-forward; may the best man win.
It’s when one opponent is laughably bad and makes the stupidest mistakes that competition becomes a farce.
Oh, our lovely little unnamed politickal party with a bankrupt man at its head. What on earth are you doing? How seriously dumb can you get? Will this latest shenanigan really win over the hearts of Singaporeans? Men ranting about non-issues to whoever will listen, and being utterly mule-headed and stubborn. No less than the honorable Lee*s have filed suit against you, but like that’s not enough, you still go out and sell more copies of your little paper.
Rats are already fleeing the sinking ship but Atap Ch*ee is brainlessly clinging on like the captain of a ship with misguided loyalty, like a terrier who won’t let go even after his skull has been caved in with a large iron bar.
I’ll give him this much, he’s a tenacious little bugger.
Dr L*ee BY assures me in Saturday’s paper that I don’t have to register my blog if I want to talk politicks.
Yay!
He says that they don’t allow politickal blogging because “once a story or rumor is started on the Internet, it is almost impossible to put it right.” He cites the example of one new P*AP candidate who was rumored on the Net of being Ab*ullah Ta*rmugi’s nephew.
“This is completely untrue,” says L*ee, “but how do we rebut it on the Internet and get all the blogs, bulletin boards and chatrooms to put out corrections to set this right?”
Aiyoh. Why so kancheong? This reminds me of the papers we wrote in Year One about how the P*AP retains the right to aggressively rebut all politicky articles and such in international publications, as well as shut them down in Singapore if need be - and they do and have (and will continue to do, from the look of it).
Granted, as our governing body they do have that right for that mode of control, but their excessiveness seems so paranoid. Must they really monitor every single blog post? Rebut every single dissenting voice? Curb every avenue of free expression? Why do they HAVE to rebut every blog and bulletin board and chatroom?
It just borders too much on over-anxiety and obsessive control to me. We’re very much still a nanny state, with citizens who must be spoonfed and babysat and who are not allowed to grow up and can’t be trusted to make informed decisions by themselves. In case the P*AP hasn’t realized it yet, they’re steadily alienating educated youth in Singapore to the point where I honestly want to stop caring.
They are the ones pushing us to our quiescent state of politickal apathy.
I read MM*Lee’s dialog session in the papers today.
Since I am not registered with the appropriate authorities, I am not allowed to blog about it.
So you may insert your own words in the blanks.
After reading the report, I feel MM*Lee really [________] and I wish that P*AP would [_______]. Even though I think [__________], I still feel that [_____________]. The panel had a lot of [_________] but MM*Lee [___________] and that was [________].
Why does [___________]? It’s [_______] and when they [________] it just shows that [________]. It [_________] me and I just think [_________].
Maybe one day [________] and we can [____________].
That’s all I have to say about that.
